Prep Day

Here I am, practicing my shooting with the 30.06! I'm also trying out my new waterproof, insulated pants for our fall trip! It was a lovely day, and shooting at the balloons that were 100 yards away proved to be quite fun! Interestingly, balloons that are popped in freezing temperatures become like deflated grocery sacks! It made it difficult to tell when I hit the balloon. Good to know! Pat also worked on his .300 Win. Mag. I did not wish to shoot that one. Ouch. Any-hoo, we had a lovely day!

Wow!

Yesterday was another beautiful day! I took the camera out and caught the sun rising (not too early, only 9:30)! There was a bank of fog & low clouds that covered the mountains across the inlet, so I took these toward the Kenai Mountains to the east! What an amazing glimpse of God's creation!

I had to include the moose! I did zoom in to get this, but I have to admit, I was a bit too close for long-term comfort! Last week or so, I saw 11 moose on my way to work! That's my record! That stretch was only about 4 miles long, so there were quite a few out! Most looked like they were cows with their older calves, but this one here was huge!

Spectacular Day

Pat took the camera to work yesterday and took a few shots of the mountains! It's been unseasonably warm this week. That means above freezing (even overnight) and up to 45 yesterday!

The sun coming up on these mountains is truly breathtaking in person! This is a view that you can't see in summer! The summer sun doesn't set for long and when it does it's 2 am: plus, there's no snow for the sun to reflect off of! Winter here is amazing!
