Settling In

We are living with my mom right now, and I really love where she lives.  It is an older part of town by the river and I have taken several walks through the neighborhood.  There are several options to follow but every one takes me across a bridge over a part of the Arkansas River or the Little Arkansas River.  It is a very lovely place, but I have to admit, I don't love the wildlife that shares the paths.  Geese are gross.  It's really that simple.

I do on occasion find things that make me laugh, or at the very least, say a fascinated "huh."
We made it to the Kansas State fair in early September, and though I haven't been great about photographing my time here, I did get a couple shots of the highlights: Pat's daring feat of planking on the tracks, and Mom's brave petting of the cow.  The lighting is just too low for any shots of the one ride we went on, "Ye Old Mill."  You know that one?  It's been there since 1914 or something like that, and it hasn't changed much.  I still scream when the people pop out and yell "Boo!"

We've also been making our rounds at the sporting events.  I was fortunate enough to be able to sit out on a 100+ degree day to watch Sydney play her first match of Tennis.  She played a girl a year older and did well!  I melted.  It had cooled way down into the 90's for this flag football game of our nephew Hudson.  He's a quick one and had a great receiving grip to make at least 2 touchdowns and extra points!  Somewhere I missed the soccer games, but that may have been because it was a very wet, misty day.  Another time (because I know you really want to see all this!).
Hudson's in the white shirt running toward the left.
